We are thrilled to announce a significant achievement for the Women Peace Climate Resilience Justice Association. Our abstract, titled “Voices of Resilience: Maasai Women COP Mashinani,” has been selected for presentation at the prestigious symposium and publication titled “Operationalising a Just Transition in Africa: Possibilities and Pathways for Energy Systems in an Uneven Global Context.” This event, funded by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), will involve collaboration with
- Centre for the Advancement of Scholarship’s (CAS) Environmental Humanities Programme, at the University of Pretoria
- The African Research Impact Network (ARIN), based in Nairobi
- SouthSouthNorth (SSN), based in Cape Town.
Recognized for operationalizing a just transition in Africa, our abstract delves into the nuanced impacts of climate change, highlighting the disproportionate burden borne by women. Set against the backdrop of COP Mashinani, we are poised to share compelling narratives of Maasai women’s resilience as they navigate the challenges of climate change and address energy needs.
Yesterday, we had the privilege of capturing more of their incredible stories during our visit to Isinya. This enriching experience further strengthens our commitment to ensuring that the voices of Maasai women resound globally.
A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated WoPCAA community for your unwavering support. As we gear up for the symposium, let’s unite to amplify our collective voices in the climate change space!
Stay tuned for more updates on our journey to Cape Town!
