Amplifying Grassroots Women's Voices for Climate Action in Kenya
What is COP
The Conference of Parties (COP) stands as a paramount international forum dedicated to addressing the escalating challenges posed by climate change. Convened under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), COP brings together representatives from nearly every nation on the globe.
This annual gathering serves as a crucial platform for global leaders, policymakers, and advocates to collaboratively tackle the multifaceted issues of climate change.
The significance of COP lies in its capacity to formulate and implement international climate policy, establish ambitious emission reduction targets, and mobilize concerted efforts to curtail the impacts of climate change.

Introducing COP Mashinani
COP Mashinani, a transformative regional initiative, takes the principles and objectives of the Conference of Parties (COP) to a localized level, focusing on grassroots engagement and community-driven solutions. The term “Mashinani” in Swahili translates to “at the grassroots,” encapsulating the core essence of this movement. Unlike traditional COP meetings, COP Mashinani seeks to empower local communities and amplify their voices in the discourse on climate change.
COP Mashinani is significant for its commitment to decentralize climate action, recognizing the critical role of local communities in addressing environmental challenges. By prioritizing the needs and perspectives of grassroots populations, we aims to create a more inclusive and impactful approach to climate resilience and sustainability.
